Ashlie White is the Chief Programs Officer for the Amputee Coalition. Prior to joining the Coalition, she served as the Director of Health Policy and Strategic Alliances for the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association. She started her career in health advocacy work on the operations side of her family-owned orthotics and prosthetics patient-care practice. During her time at Beacon P&O, she served in various volunteer roles including eight years as Director of Government Affairs for the North Carolina Orthotics and Prosthetics Trade Association (NCOPTA) and four years on the board of Directors for the National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP). Ms. White recently completed the Public Health Leadership graduate program at UNC’s Gillings School of Global Public Health, and holds a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree from the School of Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Forrest Stump is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit advocacy organization with a mission to promote equitable access to physical activity for individuals living with disabilities. At age 10, Nicole Ver Kuilen made the difficult decision to amputate her left leg to save her life from cancer. She would then spend the next 16 years fighting an outdated healthcare system to get access to the prosthetic technology she needed to be physically active. Running prosthetics are considered “not medically necessary” and denied by insurance. The cost of a running blade, $15,000-$25,000 per limb, made it unattainable for Nicole and her family.
